By the Church, For the Church
In yesterday's blog, I shared one purpose of the Church; that we as a body are designed to make known the "manifold wisdom of God." Today I'd like to show yet another purpose. We will be looking to Ephesians 4:14-17 . According to the Apostle Paul, each one of us as Christian's is intended to speak the truth (the word of God) in love. As a result, we are to grow up in every aspect of Christ who is the head. In Christ, according to the scriptures, the whole body is being fitted and held together. And this happens through what "every joint supplies." Paul then concludes that this synergy (of Christ through His redeemed) causes the growth of the Body for the building up of itself in love. Purpose: the Church is to build itself up in love! The Church is for the Church. When's the last time you heard that vision cast? I know and understand the common teaching that we exist for the world. And although this is true, we mustn't forget the multifaceted plan of God. We are on-mission to the world, but we're purposed to build one another up and love! I want to challenge you today to find a way to build up a fellow brother or sister in Christ. You may encourage them, graciously admonish them or even soundly teach, but whatever you do know that it will help facilitate one more purpose of God.
