Lost Connection?

January 26, 2018

"They have lost connection with the head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow." - Colossians 2:19 NIV

I opened my laptop. A banner appeared, prompting me to download and install a new update. Reluctantly, I hit ok. After plugging my computer in to ensure completion of the process, a status bar indicated that I had 52 minutes remaining.

After returning to my computer sometime later I noticed that the process had stalled around the halfway mark. The power cable was still connected and no one had hit cancel. Completely frustrated, I realized that the wifi had disconnected. All this led to the worst part; once it was back up and running I had to start the download over again.

Ever been there?

Now, forget wifi for a second. Have you ever felt like you've lost your connection with God? It's just as frustrating, isn't it?

Pauls correction in today's verse reminded me that the Christian life is actually all about connection. Our connection with Him and consequently our connection with one another.

There are many things that threaten this connection but they're all a matter of choice. Choosing to stay connected (abiding as the Bible calls it) is the main goal for each of us. Each day we must ensure again our connection with God is well established. This is one of the many uses for what we call devotions.

I hope today you will assess your connection with God and you will take steps to reconnect if, in fact, you've lost it.

Questions to Consider:

What are some of the things Paul says create this disconnect?

What helps you reestablish a connection with God?
