God did what?
"...the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light. For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." - Colossians 1:12-14 NASB "Not to us" declares the psalmist, "Lord, not to us" he repeats, "but to Your name be the glory, because of Your faithfulness, because of Your love." "This is love" taught John, "Not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins." In keeping with this theme Paul declares four things that God alone has done. Four things that we played no part in accomplishing: 1. God qualified us to share in the inheritance. 2. God rescued us from the dominion of darkness. 3. God brought us into His Kingdom. 4. God forgave our sins. All too often as Christians we get distracted by looking at ourselves. What we're doing right, what we're doing wrong and sadly how we're doing in comparison with others. Living life this way never benefits us, rather it only serves to short change God of the glory due His name. Of course we should take into consideration our actions, but not in such a way as to ignore what God alone has done. The scripture clearly tells us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling, but only in light of all that Christ Jesus has already accomplished! Questions to Consider: Do you spend more time reflecting on what you do or don't do, or what God has done for you? What are some things you use to remind you of what God alone has done?
